Based in Southfield MI, they have been doing business for 30 years, and continue to be a popular choice for players who are serious about the game.

Equally well known are the brands that they have carefully chosen to stock. As stated on their website, American Table Tennis is “the exclusive US importer and distributor of Donic and Yasaka table tennis products.” The reason American Table Tennis chooses to focus on these brands is because of the quality of the equipment they produce. After all, both brands are internationally recognized and respected in table tennis networks. Donic is based in Germany, while Yasaka products are made in Japan- where the company originated- and Sweden. Yasaka has been in business for over 60 years, and Donic has been in operation since 1977; so it is clear that together, these two companies offer a wealth of expertise.

Both brands focus on quality, innovation and new technology, pushing the traditional boundaries of the game ever further. It is not just these companies’ histories that make them what they are today, but also their continual desire to make progress, setting the ever-raising standards of the modern game. Both Donic and Yasaka strive to be the first on the market with new products, and American Table Tennis ensures that these leading innovations reach the American market swiftly, making them available directly from their website.

Instructional and informative books, DVDs and videos are also available. There is such great variety.  You could spend hours perusing their selection of top-quality merchandise. It’s not only limited to Donic and Yasaka either; you will no doubt come across products by other eminent brands, such as Butterfly, Killerspin, and Newgy, the creator of the Robo-Pong robots.

At American Table Tennis, it’s simple to create an account online, and a variety of payment options are available if you choose to make an order. Look out for promotional codes, which are occasionally offered on the website and can be applied to certain orders.

Table Tennis Brands – Stiga Table Tennis Tables

Posted by Lauren Traveau On October - 28 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

Reputable table tennis brand Stiga has been ‘building world champions for 65 years.’ They have also been building table tennis tables, which are sold successfully alongside their famous blades, rubbers, bats, balls and nets.

Of the competition tables, the ITTF approved ‘Automatic Roller’ has the highest quality surface and structural reinforcement for precision play. It has a simple arrangement of posts, which provide maximum support without compromising playability when stepping in to the side of the table for tight shots. Wheels on the centre legs mean that once folded, this 123kg, 25mm fibreboard table can be effortlessly cleared away.

Similarly, the ‘Expert’ and ‘Expert Roller CSS’ (with built-in roller trolley) provide reliable table constructions that are ideal for serious club training, tournaments and competitions. These tables have an extra high-density top, meaning enhanced durability and minimal wear and tear. The surface also ensures the perfect bounce, game after game. The ‘Expert’ has a simple but sturdy construction reminiscent of classic tables from years gone by, and although it doesn’t have large rollers like its counterpart, it has heavy-duty folding wheels, making it very easy and efficient to store. Each table weighs 120kg, just a little less than the Automatic Roller.

An alternative competition table is the ‘Optimum 30.’ The reason it stands out is its unusually thick 30mm top, which adds consistency to the trajectory of the bounce of the ball. Regardless of spin, the truest possible bounce is achieved due to the special varnish applied to the pre-treated top. Below the tabletop, a series of eight wheels and four corner posts provide maximum support and functionality.

Another world-class table that caters to storage space limitations is the ‘Premium Compact.’ While it weighs 146kgs, when folded away it has a depth of only 55cms, which is at least 10cms less than most comparable Stiga competition models.

Renowned for their table tennis expertise, Stiga has not held back in the leisure market. They stock a wide range of tables aimed at the more casual table tennis player. Currently there are over ten models available, mostly with fibreboard tops and bat holders at the sides. Most notable of these models are the ‘Family 16’ and ‘School CS.’ The Family 16 is a basic table with a thin structural frame, making it very light: just 65kgs. It represents value for money, and as the name might suggest, is designed for home use, requiring relatively little storage space. It is comparable to other lightweight models, such as the ‘Spirit Roller’ and ‘Star Roller.’ ‘The Thunder Roller’ is even lighter, at 49kgs, and has the additional benefit of being suitable for outdoor use. As for the School CS, it is stable and durable, ideal for the school environment, or youth clubs that want to cater to a respectable standard of play without breaking the bank.

Stiga currently sells a variety of outdoor tables too. The ‘Mega Outdoor CS’ is a good all-round hobby table, and the ‘Outdoor Roller’ and ‘Performance Outdoor CS’ provide an effective level of resistance against the elements, such as heat, rain, damp and cold. The ‘Super Outdoor’ is a little stronger with its solid construction, and for this reason is another popular choice for schools. All Stiga’s outdoor tables have a thin surface of melamin resin board, and at 10mm the Super Outdoor table boasts the thickest.

Finally, Stiga also sells mini-tables, great for juniors, or just a bit of family fun where space limitations dictate the possibilities. The construction may not be as solid as other Stiga tables, but at 30kg, you could disassemble and transport it a lot more easily than any standard model.

Stiga has lots of options when you’re looking for a quality table.  So, if you’ve decided to buy a Stiga Table Tennis Table, weigh your options and your needs, and then take your pick!

Newgy to Release Brand New Digital Robots

Posted by Lauren Traveau On October - 3 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

Newgy announced on their website recently the upcoming release of their brand new digital models, the Newgy Robo-Pong 1050 and 2050.  These new digital robots will surely be the way of the future for table tennis training robots.  Not only will Newgy now have a digital version of their top models (the 1040 and the 2040), but they will also be releasing a digital upgrade kit allowing players who already have a robot to upgrade to a digital model.

The basic differences between the 1050 and the 2050 are the same as the differences between their older generation equivalents (the 1040 and the 2040), but the digital component takes both of these models to the next level.  Whether you’re looking for a collection net or not, either digital model will be a worthy addition to your table tennis training regime.

If you already own a Robo-Pong 1040 or 2040, Newgy has created a Digial Upgrade Kit that will allow you to upgrade your current model to the new digital model for less money than the cost of a brand new robot.

For more information on Newgy’s new digital robots, available later this fall, visit Table Tennis Bargains.
